Politics of the Borders

Immigration in Canada is a complex situation. Immigration is responsible for decreasing the amount of “foreigners” entering the country and finding all the illegal immigrants and deporting them. However immigration has been growing rapidly in Canada throughout the past five years. If Migration continues to grow from people of all beliefs, creed and races; we could then ask…What is the purpose of border security?
For instance Refugees who migrated because of running away from homeland for many reasons;  running away from death or some form of persecution, violence, war, absolute poverty or life threatening act that could be related to race or position in life. When a refugee comes to Canada, they pay quite a fortune to get on a ship probably with very little food and water for months, aching bones and crying hearts hoping for somebody to accept them as a human being with the right of the minimum access to humanity; however it doesn’t always turn out that way. We’re somehow not made to think of the poverty of these people but somehow wealthy nations are sharks with profits because of the poor. Oil refineries, Factories are all located in the poorest countries where these refugees are from. But it’s the whole indirect attitude with that we are good enough to go to their country but they are not good enough for ours. Immigrants are seen with this whole notion of “jumping the queue” by the media and various public figures. Canadians somehow feel cheated but what’s there to really cheat on? Refugees are often attacked as terrorists and put into jail of being accused of being one with no kind of evidence correlating to it. Why is it so quick to assume and judge? Coming from such a place, Refugees are more than willing to work to get a place in the society. On the Canadian Citizenship website, it makes everything look all good about being willing to protect thousands each year. Does that really take place? The United Nations are meant to intervene into poorer countries, usually the third world to stimulate development, perhaps if they came in to first world countries and analyzed whether refugees are actually treated like people then maybe we would have some improvement of the “white” attitude being fully dominated here. Referring to refugees as cheats indirectly when there is no physical queue they will have to partake in is showing how people become racialized and colonization still being prevalent. Vic Toews and Stephen harper referring to refugees as “human cargo” Is just re iterating another word for objects. When we refer to people as objects, we take away their human value and right as if they are not owed it. Perhaps if the tables were turnt, some major development for people who are less privileged will encourage more people to be active in the decisions made for others. Somethings’ are only fully comprehended based solely on experiences.
